TRCB led a combined architectural and landscape team with Marion Fredriksson Design Consulting to develop a Spatial Masterplan for Rowethorpe Village – an aged-care development located on a 120,000m2 site in Bentley.
The site was established as a Uniting Church retirement village and has since developed to accommodate over 300 residents in a range of residential accommodation. The site is notable for the quality of its established landscape character. Both operators and residents have identified this as a key attribute of the village. Design principles were established to drive the project, with a focus on people and community.
The project combines Independent Living Units (ILUs) and Residential Care Facilities, medical and administrative facilities, as well as key community spaces and amenities. A new village centre is proposed in the south-eastern quadrant of the site, immediately adjacent to a large-scale care facility planned for the precinct. TRCB has since been appointed for full architectural services to deliver the Stage 1 works, including 25 ILUs, a new bowling green, chapel and community building. The development will form the new village recreational centre.
