First tracks laid on Metronet Morley-Ellenbrook Line (MEL)

3 May 2023

The first tracks have been laid on the $1.1 billion MEL project – the biggest expansion of the Perth rail network since the Mandurah line.

TRCB is working with Woods Bagot to deliver the Morley and Noranda stations on the 21-kilometre train line in Perth’s north-east. The MEL will support the area’s growth as a major activity centre and make the most of nearby development opportunities, including for new housing.

Travel from Ellenbrook to Perth City will take only 30 minutes once complete, giving residents of the north-eastern suburbs greater transport choice, reduced travel times and new modern stations.
