TRCB’s design of Brooklane shopping centre in Ellenbrook has been named a winner in the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) WA Awards ceremony, held 9 June.

Brooklane received the Award for Commercial Architecture, with the jury noting the design ‘conceptually responds to the Swan Valley with its Swan Estuary waterways’ and successfully achieves urban integration, ‘evident in both connectivity and scale’.

In further recognition of the project’s effective integration in context, Brooklane also received a Commendation for Urban Design.

The jury stated Brooklane is ‘a notable achievement as it has successfully explored an alternative approach to established shopping centre typologies … Taking local cultural and character cues from the nearby Swan Valley, TRCB have crafted a cohesive and engaging development.’

The jury further noted: ‘The open-air mall design recalls an inner-city laneway and provides an improved environment encouraging shoppers to linger, socialise and extend their stay.’

Thank you to AIA WA and congratulations to our client, Centuria, and all project partners!
