The Science and Technology Engineering Building (Building 216) is the second phase in the development of a coherent engineering precinct in the heart of Curtin University’s Bentley campus. The brief required approximately 2500m2 of state-of-the-art academic, research and teaching accommodation.

To foster a vibrant research community, the building houses both individual and common spaces that encourage engagement and facilitate the sharing of ideas between staff and students across four floors.

Flexibility was a key driver behind the design. Each floor plate can be reconfigured in numerous ways to suit the changing needs of the university over time. Meanwhile improved pedestrian linkages make previously underutilised spaces available.

Today, the building is a central element of a coherent engineering precinct that resonates with the accomplishments of a thriving research community and reflects the achievements of a dynamic engineering faculty.
