Fred Chaney
Director
Fred Chaney is a Director at TRCB, bringing extensive experience across a wide range of scales and typologies. His project experience ranges from masterplanning and the public realm, to tertiary education, transport, retail development and sports precinct design. He was the first WA-based director appointed to the board of the Green Building Council of Australia and was Project Director for WA’s first 6 Star Greenstar As-Built project.
Fred has over fifteen years of continuous engagement in major cultural institutional and urban design project work in Perth. Significant projects include master plans for AGWA, the State Library of Western Australia and the Perth Cultural Centre. He was a member of the Western Australian Planning Commission from 2016-2021 and is a recognised authority in master planning and urban design. Other notable projects include the RASWA masterplan for the Perth Showgrounds, Fremantle Campus Master Plan for the University of Notre Dame and the new Morley Ellenbrook train line, a project in which he also acted as Precincts Design Lead and TRCB Design Lead for the Morley and Noranda Stations.
Fred’s skills include highly effective multidisciplinary collaboration, conceptual design thinking, design communication and project advocacy, including informed and integrated approaches to environmentally sustainable design. Across all projects, Fred is committed to an effective, collaborative design process for the client and the project team, and the translation of this process into thoughtfully conceived and robust architectural solutions.
