Wesley College Boarding House

Date: 2015

The Wesley College Boarding House provides living accommodation for approximately 150 boys from Year 7 to 12. The accommodation standard however was identified as requiring improvements to bring the facilities in line with contemporary standards in student accommodation at private colleges. The first stage of upgrade works involved the design of a new wing to the boarding house to accommodate Year 12 students. Taylor Robinson Chaney Broderick designed new double storey addition to provide a respectful, yet contemporary response to the existing context and overall school aesthetic.  An additional 42 bedrooms for Year 12 students, a house master’s apartment and student lounges have been created. The Year 12 students are housed in self-contained individual bedrooms with built in study desks and wardrobes.

On the successful completion of this new boarding wing, a major internal refurbishment of the adjoining Cygnet wing of the boarding house was undertaken as stage 2 of the overall upgrade program. The interior design for this predominantly Year 11 area carried on the accommodation and design theme adopted in the Year 12 wing.
