Shorehaven Village

Date: Current

Located in Alkimos, Shorehaven is designed to underpin the beginnings of a welcoming coastal village mainstreet, comprising a major supermarket, several specialty retailers, with food + beverage outlets offering shaded alfresco areas. The main street provides a gateway to the now established Foreshore Park and the ocean view beyond.

A double height timber loggia provides shelter for the length of the main street and the distinctive sweeping timber parapet help to define the Village’s coastal character.  The carving of mall connections and ‘pocket’ alfresco dining areas allow for permeability into the development whilst offering respite from prevailing winds and adding activation to the Village centre frontage.

The site’s coastal location has inspired a textural and robust palette of materials for the architecture, including embossed concrete, laser cut Corten screening and large timber posts and cladding. The development is sensitively landscaped with native plants, while paving patterns help to define areas of use legible at both street level and from the surrounding buildings.
