Queen Street

This project incorporates a newly refurbished mixed-use office and retail building in the heart of Perth and in one of the city’s recognised heritage precincts. Built in 1910, Queen Street is a brick and tin building in the Federation style. The works include facade revitalisation, reconstruction, adaptation, new services and amenities.

The brief was to convert the existing building into office space, retail and a hospitality venue. The outcome is a viable commercial asset, a positive heritage contribution and further activation of Queen St, an increasingly important pedestrian link between Wellington Street, Northbridge and the CBD.

The City of Perth supported our approach with a significant heritage grant. Our engagement with the City early in the development process enabled this to form part of the overall feasibility assessment of the project and to expand the heritage ambitions and outcome for the project. Early contractor engagement allowed for an efficient and collaborative approach that benefited the project programme as well as the project’s commercial feasibility.
