Forrest Place

Offices:
Our team developed the design and documentation package for a demonstration fit-out and refurbishment of one level of the old Commonwealth Bank building. Works included rationalisation of the existing mechanical and electrical services; refurbishment of original timber parquetry floors; refurbishment of existing bathrooms; new tenancy partitions and glazing systems, as well as new lighting and data.

The architectural approach was to adopt a minimal impact strategy that allows the spatial, material and detailing qualities of the original building to remain as the dominant and character defining elements of the office spaces.

Tenancy:
This project included the envisioning of new tenancies inside 1 Forrest Place after the departure of the previous tenant. The brief called for a vision of how a new retail tenancy could be accommodated within the heritage building in order to entice a large major retailer into the heart of the CBD alongside the likes of H&M, Zara and Topshop. Our work included the identification of important heritage elements inside and outside the building, discussions and negotiations with Heritage WA and the City of Perth and the development of the detailed approach that informed the development application for the works. It is the third project we have undertaken on behalf of the owners for the 1 Forrest Place building.
