The Backyard

Date: 2013

The Backyard at the Rosemount Hotel has recently launched from its origins as a run down and dated beer garden, to a refurbished dynamic space suited to a variety of functions, both day and night, alfresco dining, celebrations, even the odd game of bocce. The space is divided into two main areas: The Deck and The Lawn. These areas were informed, partly by the existing change in levels, and reinforced by the feature screen planter wall, custom constructed using recycled milk crates, allowing for light to penetrate as well as a unique texture to both sides. The screen wall is also able act as a backdrop for live music performances, for which the venue is well known. With a relatively small budget, works also included improving the car park approach to the venue. A portal was created with reference to the existing historic pub entry to create a venue that has its own identity, whilst clearly belonging to the Rosemount family.
